so my birthday is coming up and while i normally don't plan anything for such an event, i'm making an exception this year being that it's my 25th milestone. you're welcome to join me and other friends at the DBA256 wine bar in pomona. it comes highly recommended by some friends of mine and it promises to offer a laid back atmosphere, free of cover charges, dress codes and douchebaggery. it's located in the arts district of pomona and has other bars located in close proximity to it, so we can hop around if we want to. come out, have some drinks with me, bring your friends and let's free ourselves from the typical rituals of shot taking, king's cupping and beer ponging.

they're always on the move, always (sub)consciously aware that you're about to take a picture, always an unwilling (and unwitting) subject.. they're skin reflects light differently than most inanimate objects.. they're not symmetrical (at least from most angles).. some straight up, look funny.. and did i mention they always move??

so i decided to take advantage of the veteran's day holiday yesterday and have my first photo session in downtown los angeles. i've always figured it was a nice commercial area to shoot, but it's truly amazing how the city morphs into something completely different once you get out of your car and street level. there's so much amazing architecture & culture hidden underneath the skyline, that a mere 3 hours on foot is not enough to cover a tiny fraction of a few miles. i'm definitely going back again, it's gonna take a long time to really cover downtown, but i'm determined to do it.
